No, this is not a deal or a freebie--in our ongoing efforts to try and make sure we share our blessings with others, I remembered that a friend of mine pools her money with a few others to sponsor a child; each person pays $4/month (there are 6 of them in the group; I think that's how they work it, anyway....Jamie?). So far, I have one other person who wants to join me...anyone else? Drop me an email (shannonv@rocketmail.com). I don't care who gets the tax deduction for it (or maybe there's a way we can each claim our part of the contribution even though there'll only be one donation receipt?).

Another repost--this has been the quickest way for me to earn gift certificates to place like Target, JCPenney, and Blockbuster in the least amount of time/with the least amount of effort. You earn points by reading emails, accepting offers (to download software, to buy something, etc.), and by visiting the site each day. It usually takes me about 3 months to earn a $25 gift certificate. Please use my user name (shannonv) if you sign up so I can get credit for it! :)

Another repost: this is a GREAT place to buy books, CDs, movies (VHS and DVD) for really decent prices. You can also sell all those books taking up space in your basement. :) I've sold about $250 worth so far (thanks for the books, Mom ;) ). A repost--because they've had some good deals lately. Start your online shopping at Ebates and get rebate checks in the mail--some participating merchants include Half.com, Walmart.com, JCPenney.com, Borders.com, and CDNow.com. Note: you HAVE to start your shopping at Ebates to get the credit; if you put something in your shopping cart at, say, Penneys, and THEN go to Ebates, it won't count.

You can read for yourself, but bottom line: if you let Yahoo use your surfing information, you get a $50 savings bond every six months. (incidentally, my mom has a similar program--PC Ratings or something like that--and it's pretty unobtrusive. And she doesn't even get paid! :p)
